Papaya leaf is often used as a traditional remedy to help people suffering from dengue fever. Papaya leaf helps to increase platelet count and has anti-inflammatory properties as well. Papaya leaf increase platelet count primarily due to its rich content of bioactive compounds, enzymes and nutrients that can stimulate the bone marrow's production of platelets.

Papain and chymopapain are common enzymes found in papaya leaf which aids in digestion by breaking down protein to help alleviate symptoms of bloating or indigestion. 

Papaya leaf is rich in antioxidants, vitamins (A, C and E), and flavonoids, which can help strengthen the immune system. Flavonoids and phenolic acids also have hepatoprotective effects as it protects the liver from free radicals.
