Folic acid is a form of Vitamin B and it is necessary for the normal production of red blood cells. Folic acid tablet is used to treat and prevent low levels of folate in the body. It is also taken to prevent a problem in the developing spine and brain of babies during pregnancy (neural tube defect).
Dosage and Directions For Use:
- Adults: Initial dose, take 2 to 4 tablets daily. Maintenance dose, take 1/2 to 2 tablets daily.
- Pregnant women: Take 1 tablet daily starting before pregnancy and continuing for the first 3 months.
- Children up to 1 year old: Doctor will advice on the dose based on body weight.
- Children 1 to 5 years: 1/2 a tablet daily.
- Children 6 to 12 years: 1 tablet daily.
- Swallow the whole tablet with water.
- Hovid-Folic Acid Tablet can be taken with or without food.
- The dose will be dependent on the condition being treated and may vary. Follow all directions given to you by your doctor and pharmacist carefully.

Cautions:
- You should not take folic acid without speaking to a doctor or pharmacist if you are sensitive/allergic to folic acid or any other ingredients in these tablets and/or suffering from Vitamin B12 deficiency including pernicious anaemia (low red blood cell count related to low vitamin B12 levels).
- Keep all medicines out of sight and reach of children.
- Store below 30°C.
