Aquacel Extra Dressing is the newest addition to the Aquacel family of products. Aquacel Extra Dressing has the 15 year clinical heritage of the Aquacel family of dressings.

Aquacel Extra Dressing provides added strength and absorption compared to Aquacel Dressing, for when greater efficiencies are desired.

• Extra Absorbency: Aquacel Extra Dressing is 39% more absorbent than standard Aquacel Dressing.
• Manage high exuding wounds and realize dressing efficiencies in moderately exuding wounds and post acute settings.
• Extra Strength: Aquacel Extra Dressing wet tensile strength is 9 times stronger than standard Aquacel Dressing.
• Helps facilitate one piece easy removal.
• May increase patient comfort during dressing changes.

Aquacel Extra Dressing is indicated for use in the following wound types:

• Leg ulcers, pressure ulcers (Stage 2-4) and diabetic ulcers.
• Surgical wounds (e.g. post-operative, donor sites, dermatological).
• Partial thickness second degree burns.
• Surgical wounds that heal by primary intent, such as dermatological and surgical incisions (e.g. orthopedic and vascular).
• Traumatic wounds.
• Wounds that are prone to bleeding such as wounds that have been mechanically or surgically debrided and donor sites.
• Painful wounds.

Directions For Use:

• Wash your hands. Remove the dressing from the sterile pouch.
• Put on sterile gloves.
• Before applying the dressing, cleanse the wound area with an appropriate wound cleanser
• Dry the surrounding skin.
• Aquacel Extra dressings should overlap at least 1cm onto the skin surrounding the wound.
• When using in deep wounds, only fill the wound up to 80%, as Aquacel Extra dressings will expand to fill the wound space on contact with wound fluid.
• A secondary dressing is required to hold the dressing in place.
• Discard any unused portion of the product after dressing the wound, as per local clinical protocol.
• The dressing should be changed when clinically indicated (i.e. leakage, bleeding, increased pain, suspicion of infection).
• The Aquacel Extra dressing maximum recommended wear time is up to seven days.
• The wound should be inspected regularly.
• Carefully lift away the dressing and discard according to local clinical protocols.

Caution:

• Aquacel Extra Dressings should not be used on individuals who are sensitive to or who have had an allergic reaction to the dressing or its components.
• This product does not contain latex.
• Sterility is guaranteed unless pouch is damaged or opened prior to use.
• Aquacel Extra Dressings are for single-use only. 
• A healthcare professional should be consulted if any of the following are observed during dressing changes, irritation, maceration (whitening of skin), hyper-granulation (excess tissue formation), signs of infection, or a change in wound colour and/or odour.
