Activated charcoal adsorbs and traps a wide variety of undesirable substances and thus prevent their absorption from gastrointestinal tract (GI). The very define particle size of activated charcoal increases its overall surface area and adsorptive capacity. 

Indications:

• Treatment of acute diarrhoea. 
• Treatment of flatulence. 
• Treatment of mild food poisoning. 

Dosage and Directions For Use:

• The capsules should be taken with water orally. 
• Appropriate fluid and electrolyte therapy should be given to avoid dehydration. 

(a) Acute diarrhoea and flatulence: 

• Adults: 3 capsules 3-4 times per day. 
• Maximum 12 capsules per day. 
• Children: Half of adult's dose. 

(b) Mild food poisoning: 

• Adults: 3-5 capsules 3-4 times per day. 
• Children: Half of adult's dose. 

Active Ingredient: 200mg activated charcoal. 

Each gelatine capsule is made up of: 

• Titanium dioxide (E171) 0.15mg
• Black iron oxide (E172) 2.67mg
• Gelatine 73.18mg (bovine source)

Cautions:

• Treatment of diarrhoea in children under 6 years of age should be under medical supervision.
• Do not take activated charcoal together with any other medicines. Take activated charcoal either at least 2 hours before or after taking other medicines. 
• Do not use Norit capsule in:
  (a) Individual with total gastrointestinal obstruction. 
  (b) Individual with suspected lack of movement in the bowel (ileus). 
  (c) Individual with acute abdominal pain. 
  (d) Individual with chronic inflammation of the colon (ulcerative colitis).
• Keep medicine out of the reach and sight of children. 
• Store at temperature between 15-30ºC.
